The Honorable DepEd Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC speaks with the Grade 11 learners of Malabon National High School. Bottom: Officials from the Central, Regional, and Division Offices join Sec. Luistro in welcoming the new school year.
June 13 – Department of Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro FSC visited Malabon National High School, headed by Dr. Ma. Victoria De Gulan, on the first day of classes for School Year 2016-2017.
Together with Undersecretary for Regional Operations Mr. Rizalino Rivera, and DepEd NCR Director Dr. Ponciano Menguito, Sec. Luistro made rounds and observed the pioneer implementation of Grade 11 for the Senior High School Program.
The above dignitaries commended and congratulated all schools for what they dubbed as the “best school opening yet”.
In consonance with the theme, “Balik-Eskwela 2016: Tayo – Handang Magsimula Para sa Kabataang Pilipino”, DepEd Malabon enforced measures to ensure that the new school year is off to a good start.
The pre-opening of classes, conducted on June 9 to 10, proved to be vital in the #BestSchoolOpeningEver.
Activities conducted were orientation with parents and students, collation of learners’ profiles, distribution of books and other resources, classroom beautification, and dry-run of classes where the learners met their advisers. The in-service training (INSET) for teachers was conducted simultaneously from June 6 to June 8. All schools, including the Division Office Proper, also installed Information Desks in strategic places for immediate assistance.
Dr. Jenilyn Rose Corpuz, OIC Schools Division Superintendent, congratulated everyone for a job well done, and called on them to continue making a stand for education, as advocated by DepEd’s social brand, #TayoParaSaEdukasyon.
As part of the Balik Eskwela 2016, a total of 14,809 Grade 1 and Grade 2 learners from the 28 public elementary schools received bags and supplies from the City Government of Malabon on June 3, and June 6 to 7. –hrb
