Grade 5 teachers join K-12 mass training
The 228 Grade 5 teachers of DepEd Malabon City took part in the mass training of teachers (MTOT) on the K to 12 Enhanced Basic Education Program held at Ciudad Christhia Resort, San Mateo, Rizal from April 9 to 16, 2016.
Spearheaded by the School Governance and Operations Division, interfacing with the Curriculum Implementation Division, the seven-day training was conducted to provide teachers with “concrete understanding of the curriculum framework, learning standards, and competencies, teaching plans, and assessment”.
The training consists primarily of break-out sessions for content and pedagogy per learning area. Common topics and activities included curriculum framework, key stage content and performance, curriculum guide walk-through of the learning competencies and standards, explicit and differentiated instructions, lesson planning and writeshop, performance tasks (GRASPS), creating table of specifications (TOS), the art of questioning, and demonstration teaching.
The trainers included Gine De Lara (Santulan ES) for English, Ofelia Cruz (EPS) for Filipino, Hilda Valencia (Division Coordinator) for Mathematics, Ana Grace Vergara (Epifanio De Los Santos ES) for Science, Noel Agustin (Catmon IS) for Araling Panlipunan, James Roldan (EPS), and Mercelita Livioco (Tañong IS) for Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan, and Lynnette Cipriano (Tañong IS) and Elizabeth Akilit (Potrero ES I) for Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health.
Resource speakers were Angelo Espiritu (Tinajeros NHS), Dalisay Esguerra (EPS for LRMDS), Andrea Ramos (Acacia ES), and Sheryll Gayola (EPS for EsP). –hrb
